Friday Romance: Nacho Night
“You too?” asked Mason.” “Eight hours felt like an eternity,” replied Emily.
Emily dropped her backpack by the door and removed her shoes before walking into the kitchen. She pulled a chair out from the table and sank into it. Fridays weren’t always tough, but this particular one had been.
Ten minutes after Emily arrived home, she heard her husband’s car pull into the garage. When Mason walked in the door, it wasn’t long before he joined her at the table. There was a similar expression on his face to her own.
“You too?” asked Mason.
“Eight hours felt like an eternity,” replied Emily.
“We had a meeting this morning that I feel lasted half the day, turns out it was only an hour. I couldn’t even tell you what it was about.”
“My co-worker and I had a project due this afternoon that we found out about this morning.”
“Today has not been our day,” said Mason.
“Let’s at least try to make it our night.”
“I vote we do something simple for dinner tonight.”
“Count me in. What’d you have in mind?”
“Good question. I was hoping something would pop into my head, but honestly, I’m too tired to even think.”
“We both had a case of the Mondays on a Friday,” said Emily.
“I’d laugh at that if I wasn’t so exhausted.”
Emily couldn’t help but grin.
“How about nachos?” she asked.
“I can’t remember the last time I had nachos. Do we already have what we need?”
“We may need to make some exceptions. Let me check.”
Emily searched the pantry and the refrigerator for what they’d need in order to make the perfect, or at least by definition, nachos.
“We don’t have corn chips,” said Emily. “We have kettle cooked potato chips.”
“We’re not off to the best start. What else do we have?”
“We have cheese.”
“That’s good. What kind?”
“Gouda.”
“So far, these nachos aren’t hitting the mark. Anything else?”
“No sour cream, but we have nonfat plain yogurt. No banana peppers or jalapenos, but we have green peppers and hot sauce.”
“This will not be nachos.”
“Not-chos?”
Mason rubbed his eyes and grinned.

Runaway Allie Cat
"Where do you want to go?"
"Anywhere." I say, breathless and desperate.
"Get on."
When my stepfather’s henchmen catch up with me, jumping on a gorgeous biker’s bike is my only escape. I don’t dare tell him who I am, as my stepfather is a powerful man who is obsessed with finding me.
From the moment Chase and I meet, sparks fly, but he doesn’t want to see me as more than some kid in trouble. He has his secrets too, and while he is on one of his mysterious jobs, he takes me to his family so I can hide out there.
I settle in and help his family. They own the local biker’s club, and it’s going under, so we open it up to the public with some live performances.
That is when I run into Chase once more. No longer in disguise, he doesn’t know who I am, and it is my chance to get up close and personal with him.
Each time he returns, I live this double life to be with him. That is until my stepfather’s henchmen catch up with me again.
Running is my only option, but how can I leave now? Will Chase chase this runaway alley cat, or will he let me go?
