Andrew wasn’t sure what to do over the weekend, having spent each one for the past four years with his girlfriend Kristen. With those memories feeling like another lifetime he brewed his coffee, poured two cups out of habit, and sat in front of the TV from sunrise to sunset. His back ached as he got off the couch and went to the enormous bed alone.

Kristen finished unpacking the last box in her new apartment Sunday morning, just an hour before noon. Her back ached from all the work the day before, despite having some help from her parents (who were more interested in criticizing all the “junk” she insisted on packing). She went to the coffee house across the street and ordered two coffees on accident. She liked hers with two cream, two sugar, and Andrew always insisted you didn’t truly like coffee unless you drank it black. She gave Andrew’s coffee to a man sitting by the door on his laptop.

Sunday afternoon Andrew decided to get out of the house and go for a run. He hadn’t been on a run in nearly two years, but how hard could it really be to get back into?
A mile into his run he was leaning against the side of a bank, feeling completely empty. He walked home.

Kristen sat down Sunday night to watch her favorite drama, a show that’d been running for over twenty years. It was one of the things her and Andrew bonded over during their first date. She thought about texting him, knowing he would be watching too. The temptation was there, since one of the main character’s could actually be his evil twin brother, and she always enjoyed going back and forth with Andrew over the details. If they only talked she was sure they’d be able to figure out his identity before the next week’s episode. She resisted and went to bed.

Monday morning Andrew mulled over whether or not Dr. Givens was actually his evil twin brother. The signs were all there, but what about that time he gave Elisabeth that snow globe on Christmas from Seattle when she was feeling homesick? Surely an evil twin wouldn’t do something so generous, unless he was covering up that he was an evil twin…

During lunch Monday Kristen decided to eat at her desk, using the time to order some things online she no longer had since moving. As she typed, her phone sat on a stack of notepads. Contacting Andrew was no more than a foot away from her fingers. She flipped her phone over, not wanting to even see the screen light up.

Monday night Andrew shifted on the couch, trying to determine the best spot to make his own. Kristen preferred the left side, but always shifted towards him when he’d sit down on the right. Other times he would rest his head in her lap as they watched late night movies.
He was sitting in the middle of the couch, half watching TV and half scrolling through his phone, when a message popped up from Kristen. She was wondering what he thought about the previous night’s episode.
