Olivia entered the sunroom to find her mother asleep, a book in her lap. She gently rubbed her mother’s shoulder.
Sunday afternoon, Olivia waved from the porch as Josh walked up the driveway. He wore the same jacket as the night before, zipped up, with a pair of slacks. Had he actually dressed up for the occasion?
“Don’t tell me Josh Radson has a shirt and tie on under that jacket.”
“Unless your pool is open, I think it best to wear a shirt.”
“Not unless you want to go ice skating. Come on in.”
Olivia sat at the kitchen table across from Josh. The situation felt much like it had the night before. Only this time, her father stood five feet away making sandwiches at the counter.
“I’m almost finished, Olly,” said her father.
“Would you mind helping Anne get to the table?”
“I can get mom,” she replied.
“Do you need any help?” asked Josh.
“I can handle it.”
Olivia entered the sunroom to find her mother asleep, a book in her lap. She gently rubbed her mother’s shoulder.
“Mom. Lunch is ready. Mom?”
