Biking Around The Neighborhood (Part 4 of 12) (A Friends to Lovers Sweet Romance)
Olivia spotted Melissa waving her over from a high-top table. She noticed three other faces at the table. Could it be? No.
For better or worse, The Den hadn’t changed a bit. The smell of cigarettes still lingered in the air, despite the “No Smoking” sign on the door. Either people just did it anyway or the smell had absorbed into the upholstery of the booths over the years.
Olivia spotted Melissa waving her over from a high-top table. She noticed three other faces at the table. Could it be? No.
Could it?
“Long time no see,” said one of the men. He had dark hair tied into a bun and wore a baggy sweatshirt.
“Tom?” said Olivia. She looked around the table. Anthony still had the same mop of blond curly hair. “Anthony, I see you still haven’t gotten a haircut.” She turned her attention to Josh, who sat on the far right. He had a trimmed beard and short light brown hair which he spiked in the front. “Josh? Is that really you?”
“In the flesh,” he replied. He moved over and gestured toward the stool beside him.
“All we need now is our bikes,” said Melissa.
“Remember those days?” said Tom. “The sun at our backs, the wind in Anthony’s hair.”
Anthony rolled his eyes and grabbed Tom by the shoulders.
“We can’t all be bodybuilders like you,” he said. “Some of us have to rely on our luscious locks to get by.”
“A bodybuilder and a car salesman,” said Melissa. “Can you believe it?”
“I can’t believe it,” said Josh. “The fact these two make it out of bed in the morning is nothing short of a miracle.”
“What do you do, Josh?” asked Olivia.
“He’s the town mechanic,” said Melissa. “He’s the only one I trust with my classic ride.”
“I’m the only one brave enough to go anywhere near that thing,” replied Josh. “I don’t even know if brave is the right word.”
Olivia noticed Josh’s hands, and the grit under his nails.
“What’s Olivia up to these days?” he asked. “You left town and never looked back.”
“Finance,” she replied. “I work at the head offices of Skillman, Banks and Myers.”
“How’d you get a gig like that?” asked Anthony.
Olivia noticed Josh nudge Anthony in the ribs.
“Because Olivia is and always has been a boss,” said Melissa.
