Biking Around The Neighborhood (Part 5 of 12) (A Friends to Lovers Sweet Romance)
“I had to wear a hat to school for months. Mrs. Patterson always told me to take it off. I can’t even remember how many times I was sent to the vice principal’s office because of it.”
After a couple of hours passed with her friends at The Den, Olivia left to get a breath of fresh air. Not a moment later, she heard the door open behind her. Josh handed her a glass.
“It’s water,” he said. “I figured we could both use some hydration after taking out three pitchers between the five of us.”
“Thanks,” she replied.
“I’m happy for you.”
“Happy for me? Why?”
He shrugged.
“You got out. You made it big.”
“You’re all doing so well. We all made it big. Heck, Melissa owns her own salon. I remember her always wanting to cut my hair back in middle school.”
“I remember the time you actually let her do it.”
“I had to wear a hat to school for months. Mrs. Patterson always told me to take it off. I can’t even remember how many times I was sent to the vice principal’s office because of it.”
“Fifteen.”
“What?”
“You were sent to the vice principal’s office fifteen times. I only know that because I spent practically every morning there myself.” He shook his head. “I always put myself between the bullies and Tom. Look at him now. He’d lay any one of them out flat if they tried to pull that stuff these days.”
“You were always a good friend. Or rather, are a good friend. I mean, I assume you still are.”
“You’ve always had such a way with words,” he replied. “I was thinking.”
“About what?” Olivia took a sip from her glass.
“Do you want to meet up tomorrow? Just the two of us. We’ve always been in this big group of ours.”
“I’d like that.”
“Tomorrow at eight? I know the best spot for dinner.”
“Tomorrow at eight. Sounds good to me.”
“Ready to head back inside?”
